Welcome to District 47 Vancouver Island

Welcome to the District 47 (Vancouver Island) Website

RTOERO has more than 80,000 members, who belong to one of 51 geographical districts across Canada. Our members come from the broader education commmunity. They work in or are retired from the early years, school boards, private schools, post-secondary institutions or any other capacity in education. District 47, with over 600 members covers Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. District 47 has two units: the Victoria Unit's members live in the Greater Victoria area, communities south of the Malahat, and the Southern Gulf islands; the Mid/Upper island Unit serves the needs of those who live north of the Malahat, and the Gulf Islands from north of Salt Spring Island.

The District 47 Executive attempts to keep in touch with our members through a variety of ways: this web site has contact and other important information for your interest; twice a year, our District Newsletter, with articles and notices of social events, is sent to our members and is posted on the web site; from time to time, our communications volunteers will remind the membership of upcoming social events, either by e-mail or phone. We also encourage our members to become involved in the "life" of our district and units. The Social Committees in the units plan various events throughout the year. The Unit and District Executives meet 3-4 times a year, to discuss and plan ways to serve our members. Please know that we are her to serve you as members. You can contact me directly at president47@districts.rtoero.ca if you have any questions.
